The fundemental purpose of ÇGYD-IBBY TURKEY is to bring high quality children’s books and children together.  To achieve this purpose ÇGYD-IBBY TURKEY works under the following areas:

Organizes meetings, panels,

Organizes  or participates in exhibitions with carefully selected high quality children’s books which are in line with contemporary,democratic principles.  Promotes these books by using different visual and written media.

Supports newly founded or established children’s libraries by providing books and/or activities related with reading and books.

Participates in international IBBY activities in order to represent high quality Turkish children’s books.

Investigates the possibility of translating high quality Turkish books to other languages.

Facilitates the cooperation of Turkish children’s writers and illustrators to meet with their international collegues and develop joint projects.

Facilitates the creation of new books by helping and developing the efforts of those interested in the subject  (artists,writers,librarians,teachers,photographers,publishers)

Supports and promotes those books that highlight different living conditions,customs,cultures  both on a national or on an international level in order to  help the world children to get to  know and understand each other better .

Encourages and facilitates the participation of CGYD members to academic meetings (panels,symposium,congress,workshops) and cooperates with other NGO’s working for the same purpose.
